To continue with my crime documentary series, I recently watched Amanda Knox. This documentary was on Netflix and was only about an hour and a half long. This documentary was released in 2016 while the actual proceedings depicted occurred in 2007 and later. I remember these events happening; however, I do not think media was the best at covering the true incidents that happened. I believe that his documentary shows both sides of the case and really shows how much the police believe Amanda had murdered her roommate. However, I think their case was not very strong.
Ultimately, Amanda was acquitted of the crimes and returned to the United States. I would highly recommend watching this, especially if you remember following this in the news. I think this gives you a better, well-rounded picture of what happened. Amanda Knox, the Police Chief investigating the case, and many other prominent players make statements during the documentary that make it raw, interesting, and well made. It also shows how the media depicted Amanda during this time and after the murder. I appreciated that the media was included in the documentary because the reporter talks about how important it was to get information, true or false, and publish it before his competitors. I think this shows just how far some people might go to get the scoop.
